Clinical Pearls

One of the most widely used scoring systems in trauma registries to objectively quantify injury severity based entirely on physiology upon arrival.

Limitations

May underscore severity in intubated patients (where respiratory rate and verbal GCS are artificially altered) unless assumed to be zero.
