Emergency

qSOFA Score

Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment for sepsis risk.

Parameters

qSOFA Score Result

--
FormulaSum of the three clinical criteria (1 point each).

Clinical Pearls

A qSOFA score of ≥2 is associated with a 3- to 14-fold increase in in-hospital mortality. It should prompt consideration of possible infection, further investigation for organ dysfunction, and escalation of therapy.

Normal Values / Reference

A normal healthy patient scores 0.

Limitations

qSOFA does not define sepsis but identifies patients at high risk for poor outcomes. It is less robust in the ICU setting compared to the full SOFA score.
