National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) Result

--
FormulaSum of physiological points assigned to RR, SpO2, Oxygen use, SBP, Pulse, Level of Consciousness (Alert vs. not), and Temperature.

Clinical Pearls

Adopted universally across the NHS and internationally as a highly sensitive tool for catching patient deterioration and sepsis early.

Limitations

Calculations shown use standard SpO2 Scale 1. Patients with known Type II respiratory failure (hypercapnia) should use SpO2 Scale 2, which is not evaluated in this simplified tool.
