Mifflin-St Jeor & Katch-McArdle BMR / TDEE Calculator

Calculates Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) with Mifflin-St Jeor and Katch-McArdle equations.

Parameters

Mifflin-St Jeor & Katch-McArdle BMR / TDEE Calculator Result

--
FormulaMifflin-St Jeor: BMR = (10 × Wt) + (6.25 × Ht) - (5 × Age) + [Male: +5, Female: -161] Katch-McArdle: BMR = 370 + [21.6 × Lean Body Mass (kg)] TDEE = BMR × Activity Factor (1.20 to 1.90)

Clinical Pearls

Provides the most reliable non-calorimetric estimate of resting energy expenditure for outpatient bariatrics, clinical dietetics, and sports physiology.

Limitations

In critically ill ICU patients with sepsis, burns, or severe trauma, indirect calorimetry or ESPEN stress factors are preferred over standard resting formulas.
